The Louisiana School for the Deaf Heritage Center provides a place for the hearing and deaf communities to overlap and experience the history of the school and deaf culture together.  Ease of visibility and comfort of lighting levels enhances communication and in turn emphasizing it’s significance in both cultures. The joining of communities along a central axis occurs at the site of the Heritage Center as the axis symbolizes the connective use of visual communication.

Overlapping spaces, oblique forms, and flowing materials will subtly draw people together to share one common learning experience. The hearing and deaf public and the students of LASD will not only be able to learn the history of LASD and evolution of visual communication, but also through their communication and interaction, they will experience the connection of communities.
